My first involvement with the PEI ACL was when I was looking for information on the Disability Support Program regarding my daughter, Margaret, who is now 12 with Down Syndrome. The knowledge and support we received as a family from the Association made me feel more educated and empowered. This helped my family in so many ways knowing that if we ever needed anything, the ACL was there for us. I became a Board member in order to ensure that not only for my daughter, but for all, we continued to support families across PEI and ensure that individuals with intellectual disabilities rights and freedoms are not ignored in all aspects of life.
