I am the parent of a young woman who lives with a developmental disability. I originally came to the PEI Association for Community Living for advice on how to navigate the “System” in an effort to put appropriate supports in place for her to live in the community as a productive citizen. I was impressed by their knowledge and commitment to the movement. I joined the Board to be part of that movement of Islanders and Canadians who want a good life in the community for their loved ones and who are willing to work toward that goal.
I believe that financial literacy and empowerment of families is a key ingredient to providing hope and security for the future of our loved ones. I firmly believe that hope is food for the soul, and that its companion is constructive action.
